Products description

All of Germany is occupied by Riesling ... All of Germany? No! A region populated by indomitable Alemanni cultivates Gutedel instead. Why? We will discuss this at the online tasting on March 27th.

Saturday, March 27th, 2021, online from 7 p.m.

We talk about whether we were born with a love for Gutedel or whether it was love at second sight and we happily discuss everything there is to say about this grape variety. What is it that makes them so special? Why do we even grow Gutedel in the Markgräflerland? Are regional specialties such as Gutedel sustainable or should we only focus on international varieties such as Burgundy? And how does the Gutedel of our dreams taste?

But of course you shouldn't just talk, you should also drink! Together we try three unique Gutedel, which - far removed from the liter bottle mainstream - show what is in this grape variety.

Do you want to be there? Then order the wine package and let the young winemakers Christoph Schneider, Maximilian Greiner and Josefine Schlumberger infect you with their enthusiasm for Gutedel. The tasting will be moderated by sommelier Sebastian Muckenhirn from the Spielweg Restaurant in Münstertal.

The wine package can be ordered here for € 26 plus low shipping costs. It consists of:
1x 2019 Gutedel limestone dry, Weingut am Schlipf - Schneider
1x 2019 Chasselas dry, Badischer Landwein, Weingut Greiner
1x 2020 Gutedel with fine yeast dry, Weingut Schlumberger

About us:

Christoph Schneider - Weingut Schneider, Weil a. Rhine
Christoph and his brother Johannes took over their parents' business in Weil am Rhein in 2015. With respect for their soils, they vinify original wines that reflect the high potential of the limestone-shaped sites on the Tüllinger Berg. Since 2015, the two brothers have been making wines under the name "HAUS GUPI" (Gutedel & Pinot) that are expanded and bottled without any addition of sulfur.

Maximilian Greiner - Weingut Greiner, Obereggenen
Maximilian has been growing his wines in his own winery in Obereggenen since 2017. He completely converted the family's fruit and wine-growing business, which originally belonged to a cooperative, to biodynamic cultivation and, with great sensitivity, gentle methods and with the help of the time factor, he makes impressive wines with a strong character. He completely dispenses with pure yeast and finings. His wines are bottled as country wines.

Josefine Schlumberger - Weingut R. Schlumberger, Laufen
After holding positions at home and abroad, including at the Austrian natural winery Renner & Rennersistas, Josefine joined the family winery in Laufen in 2020. Her parents have long been making independent wines to suit their personal taste. In 2014 they were one of the first wineries in Germany to fill a pét nat. In the future, Josefine will help shape the common path to even more extraordinary wines.
